Welcome to the Division of Special Operations
The Division of Special Operations consists of specialized units and officers who support the mission of the Hillsboro Police Department. This Division includes our School Resource Officer program, evidence custodians, and our Animal Control/Code Enforcement program.
School Resource Officer (SRO) Program
The Hillsboro Police Department currently has one officer assigned as a School Resource Officer for the Hillsboro R-3 School District. The SRO Program is designed to promote positive relationships and interactions with law enforcement while also keeping the school campus secure for students and faculty. Our officer works hand-in-hand with a counterpart from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, who is also assigned to the district.
Officer Mary Woodward, DSN 120
Our Evidence Custodians ensure that all evidence seized by officers through the course of their investigations is packaged and stored properly, and coordinate with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab to test any lab evidence. Evidence custodians also facilitate the release or destruction of evidence once a case has been cleared through the courts system.

Animal Control/Code Enforcement
Hillsboro’s Code Enforcement Officer patrols the city as part of our Nuisance Abatement Program, monitoring for code violations including high grass, derelict vehicles, or at-large dogs. Currently, this is a part-time position, operating Monday-Thursday 7:00a-12:00p.
