The Division of Special Operations consists of specialized units and officers who support the mission of the Hillsboro Police Department. School Resource Officer (SRO) Program
The Hillsboro Police Department currently has two officers assigned as School Resource Officers for the Hillsboro R-3 School District. The SRO Program is designed to promote positive relationships and interactions with law enforcement while also keeping the school campus secure for students and faculty.
Officer Dean Rodgers, DSN 126

Reserve Officer Program
Hillsboro reserve officers serve a valuable function to our agency. These officers, who hold full-time positions elsewhere, volunteer their time to supplement manpower for special events, hold training certifications, and provide extra coverage on patrol. Reserve officers receive the same training and have the same authority as full-time officers.
Officer Ken Merseal, DSN 118

Evidence Custodians
Our Evidence Custodians ensure that all evidence seized by officers through the course of their investigations is packaged and stored properly, and coordinate with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab to test any lab evidence. Evidence custodians also facilitate the release or destruction of evidence once a case has been cleared through the court system, and handle the storage and release of any found property that is turned in to the Hillsboro Police Department.
